The German Shepherd Dog is also known as the Alsatian, or Deutsche Schaferhund. Rin Tin Tin, probably the most famous American German Shepherd, was actually born in France in September of 1918 and then brought to America later.
1) When your pitbull behaves or commits an intolerable act, give him or her a deep, short growl. The growl is effective because it emulates the canine's mother. Just as the pup's mother would confront the pitbull face to face with the growl, you should do the growl in your puppy's face to discourage the unwanted behavior.
Chihuahuas, because of their size, are often treated like babies, but they actually do have something in common with human babies. Chihuahuas are born with a "molera", also known as a soft spot, on their heads, exactly like a human baby. Usually the soft spot closes as the dog matures.
2) If your puppy or new pitbull continues the behavior, repeat the growl. However, the second one should be a little louder but not any longer than the first growl.
The dachshund's name comes from it's earliest use. The dachshund was originally a badger hunter. In German, Dachs means "badger," Hund is "hound". This explains the breed's curious and inquisitive nature, which has survived to this day.
3) In cases where your pitbull continues to behave poorly, snap at the canine in the fashion a pitbull. In other words a short bursting growl followed by a snapping of your teeth.
The name Pug is believed to have derived from this dog's resemblance to the pug monkey. That also fits the breed in other ways. Pugs tend to be curious and mischievous. They always seem to have a look of mischief and fun on their face, just like a monkey.
Amongst DOG trainers, the emulation of DOGS is the subject of great controversy. Most pitbulls will not outgrow poor behavior without the guidance of rules. Many trainers consider it a negative form of discipline to act like a canine to enforce discipline. However, other DOG advocates consider it an effective way to demonstrate authority without raising one's voice.
Chow Chows have very unusual mouths. When they are born they look normal enough. However, by the age of about 8 weeks, their gums and tongues go from pink to an odd shade of bluish-black.
Other trainers recommend discouraging poor behavior by giving a pitbull a sniff. Since it demonstrates that the owner is the elder or alpha, it can catch your pitbull or puppy off guard and make them aware that is the subordinate.
